“Pushing through the Pull Door” release date set for September 17th

album 2 coverPaul Aziz’s sophomore album “Pushing through the Pull Door” is a predominantly instrumental album filled with lavish layers, plump beats and elements of glitch. It has been described as “fluid for your ears” from beginning to end.
Yet another concept album, these songs carry a heavy emotion about simply stopping what you don’t like in life and starting what you do like. It is about following your passions, learning from the trials and tribulations and shedding truth, awareness and light while doing so.

In other news the entire first album “Turnaround” is now available to hear streaming on this site.  Lyrics from this album have been posted for the first time as well.

Happy Friday, Free Song Downloads, and a New Website

It's a Sunny Day I'm gonna waste it away

It's a Sunny Day... I'm gonna waste it away...

These songs are no longer available for free :-( (all songs can be listened to or purchased on the music page)

I decided to make these two tracks available for free download based on a some valuable feedback from good friends (thanks all). These two tracks are from my first album Turnaround which was released a little over two years ago. If this is all new to you there is more information on the music page.

As for the website, I redesigned it to combine my old music site with my travel blog so I can put all my creative ideas in one place. I can now put my energy and focus back on finishing up my second album (more details like album name and release date are coming soon).

Enjoy the tracks and even if you have heard them before I encourage you to forward this link, spread the music, tell your friends, put it on your iPod, etc…you get what I mean.

Thanks a lot

Let the experiment begin

Well in this crazy day and age of internet business, music and marketing, I am trying to get a hold on how the heck to go about all this stuff and sometimes it is easy to forget just why and what I am doing it all for?  And when I remind myself that it is simply to be able to make music, be creative and to share with people,  it makes everything so much easier.

So rather than sitting around and constantly perfecting the master plan, I think I will just be my own lab monkey and just try out all of my questions.  That being said I created a new music profile at Reverb Nation and uploaded a near completed track called “Peer Funk”.  One other thing, the Sax in the track is courtesy of Peter Gavin of Moped.  Comments are appreciated.

This track can now be heard on the music page

Could I give an album away if I tried?

I have had an album idea near completion since about the end of last Summer (08). Besides a few minor tweaks here and there, I can’t seem to get over a few semi-finished portions of work (aka. mental blocks), which leaves a bunch of hard-work and unheard music sitting on my computer.  I constantly hope that I will finish it before I get totally sick of it and/or lose total interest in it.

Here is a list of my semi-finished portions of work (mental blocks):
Mixing
Mastering
Album Artwork
Trying to Market it and sell it.

This sounds like a lot of unfinished business, but the truth is that my strength and my creative process is in making the music. The other stuff I find it to be much more arduous and now have completely realized is stopping me from moving forward.

Even if I do go through all the motions to perfect every step of the process, how much would that really affect people downloading/listening to the music.
So say I decide to take the route of giving a digital album away, would I be selling myself short on what I am capable of or would I be moving past a road block that I created? and more curiously…

Could I give an album away if I tried?

your thoughts…?
